Eight Points, No Losses: Reading Leeds' Best Start in 25 Years

Leeds United 2026/27 Home Kit Colour Mug

Four Premier League games into 2026/27, and Leeds United still haven't lost. Go on, read that back once more — it still doesn't sound quite real.

The season opened with a 1-0 win away at Nottingham Forest, then a 1-1 at home to Brentford, a 1-1 on the south coast at Brighton, and then Newcastle came to Elland Road on Monday and left with four goals against their name — Dominic Calvert-Lewin among the scorers, still quietly having the sort of season that's becoming the actual story of this campaign. Two wins, two draws, nothing else in the "L" column. Eight points from four games, which — by the club's own numbers — is the best start to a top-flight season since 2001/02.

Nobody round Elland Road is saying that out loud, obviously. Leeds fans have earned the right to a healthy dose of superstition, so the done thing is to mutter something about "still early days" while quietly checking where that 2001/02 side ended up finishing. It hasn't been one man's team, either — Ethan Ampadu's been a rock through the middle, Anton Stach has made himself very much at home in midfield since arriving from Hoffenheim, and the goals have been shared around the forward line rather than resting on one man's shoulders. That's usually the sign of a side actually built for a season, not just a good week.

Next up: Crystal Palace at home today. On paper it's the toughest test yet — Palace have made a decent fist of their own start — but they've also shipped two goals or more in ten straight Premier League matches, which is the sort of stat that makes you quietly fancy your Sunday afternoon. We're not in the business of predictions round here (see: every other week this season), but Elland Road in full voice against a side who keep leaving the door open sounds like exactly the occasion Leeds have been building towards.

Whatever happens on the pitch, the mornings before kickoff are non-negotiable — kettle on, something with a crest on it in your hands, staring at the fixture list like it might rearrange itself if you look hard enough. The 2026/27 Home Kit Colour Mug has been doing exactly that job since August, and the Kit Pin Badge Set covers all three shirts plus a couple of classic EverythingLUFC crests, for whichever one you're feeling loyal to on any given Sunday.

Four games doesn't make a season, and nobody sensible is getting carried away just yet. But this is the best position Leeds have been in for a generation, and it's worth actually sitting with that for a minute before the football gods remember they're supposed to keep us humble. Enjoy the ride while it lasts — and if Palace really have shipped two-plus in ten straight, we know which end of Elland Road we'd rather be stood in today.
